Recommendations

Me and my coursemates' conversations over dinner gave me an interesting thought.

I have been letting some of my friends know about jobs vacancy that might interest them when I come across classifieds and friends who needed an extra hand with work. One of my friends who work in Copperpots was looking for a QC personal and I told a junior of mine (He got the job; congrats!!) That was easy and everyone was/is happy; my friend got a helper and my junior got a permanent job.

If there is a vacancy in my lab; Do I suggest my friends to go for it?

I gave this matter quite some thought; my best fren from home and best fren in Adelaide (J&J), both are not the outdoor type. Less sun the better, Less sweating the better, The mall would be the best place to be =).... Just to say that they don't work and they are looking for a job; I don't think I'd be able to "advice" them to take the vacancy in my lab. I, of course ,will tell them about the job, but deep down inside, I know that the working condition is not their cup of tea and they would most likely say "no" too. hahaha
BUT, in a situation that they do accept the job, there might be some confrontations between frens. The ones that I can think of:
1. To tell your fren to do this and that ; being told to do this and that.
Happened to my 2 of my coursemates, same degree, graduated the same time.
(One girl was the QA&QC manager and the other just worked in the production line. As a production line worker, they are suppose to listen to their supervisor. It just so happens that the production worker was a 30-ish mother of 1 and the other was an early 20s manager. The mother wouldn't listen to the manager. In the end, she (mom) quit)
2. Reflection on me
The boss breaths down your neck when your fren is lazy; Me breathing down my fren's neck because I was the one who suggest that my fren takes over this job, not realising that my fren was that lazy.

Sowing and harvesting of wheat isn't a lady-like job. I didn't expect myself to be working in this kind of environment either, after graduating my degree. At the beginning of my degree I had always pictured myself working in R&D of some multi-million food company like Nestle, Coke ... etc. By the end of third year moving to my final year, I picture myself working in Japan, with all the interesting food with detailed wrapping and packaging. After I graduated, I ended up working with my Honours project supervisor; it began with just experiments and somehow lead to farming my own wheat samples.

Any complains about this job? Just a few; had terrible sore legs when I started sowing, itchy arms and legs due to the awns of the wheat scratching on my skin (the more you scratch, the itchier it gets) and developed an allergy to pollen.

hahaha that is it I guess..=)

Scariest studio apartment

What is wrong with this studio apartment??
Can you see anything wrong with it??!!! The kitchen is in the bedroom. There is no stove either. Scary neh!!! but for $100k in the city next to chinatown, I guess it's cheap and convenient....

Plants DO talk...

My colleague (ex-supervisor) told me something really really funny and very true too.

As I mentioned so often; My bosses are in Argentina for 1 week, so I'm bosses-less for a week. That don't mean that I have nothing to do. I still have to do flowering, harvesting, plant transfer, trashing and watering. All this is done in my own sweet time, but if I finish early then I can go home early. Of course I'mworking on lightning speed to finish all required work for the day.

I normally water the plants at 2pm; but since the bosses ain't here, I've been watering them at 12pm cus then I can go home by 1pm. Yup, watering the glasshouse takes about 1 hour but it is a must to do.

"The plants won't tell my bosses that they had been watered at 12pm instead of 2pm BUT they will tell my bosses that they have not been watered for a week!"

There is always one in a relationship....

I start off by being sarcastic "To the people reading this and maybe offended by it, I apologise" BUT I'm still gonna tell it anyway, "So.. U* Y****"

hehehe.. I realised that in a relationship, there is always one person who wants "everything". I'm not a gamer or a high tech updater. I don't really care for wii or PS3 or Xbox.. etc... but some people do. I'm not sure to call it KiaSu or interest or hobby. A few of my friends (who are in a relationship), one of them always has this kind of itching habit.

Between me and Pigeon, Pigeon is one of those people with high interest in computer/ PS/ wii games, especially if it involves basketball or football. He could walk up to the shop every 2 days to check if the game is out...hmmmmm.... Good or Bad?? I don't really know....

As for me, I don't know what I KiaSu on..... Till now I want a rott of my own, but my rented place can't have pets. So I guess I KS on a house with a garden (bought by pigeon) to have my own puppy... =P
make sense?? Not to me..... teeheeehee....

PS: no bosses for one week, I'm getting hyper relax.....

Quick embarassing moment..

Just yesterday I went to the casino, they are giving out a chance to win a Lexus. Well, fingerscross, I'd hope to win it... hahaha....

About 1 hour later after dinner, I needed to go to the restroom. Slowly made my way there. There was a guy walking in front of me and I followed him into the toilet. This was the embaressing part of the story; when he got in, only did he realise he went into the wrong toilet, apologised and went out again. He was so close in not being notice (I was the only girl in the toilet) haha but too bad!!! he was caught!!

My first pastry!!

LOOK LOOK!!!

My first handmade pastry; Chicken Mushroom Pocket!!! Looks good, Smells good and Taste good too!
Suitable for lazy people with free time on their hands... hehehe

Recipe:
Pre-made pastry (6 sheets in a pack)
Chicken thighs or drumsticks (boneless) / chicken breast
Frozen vegetables; peas, carrots, corn
2 cans of mushroom Campbell soup

1. Boiled the meat in salt water
2. Ripped the cooked meat into bite size
3. Mix the cooked meat, frozen vegetables and mushroom soup into a huge bowl. Depending on how moist you want your pocket filling, one can should be enough for 5 big sheets.
4. Cut the pastry sheets into halves (triangular shape)
5. Filled half of the triangle with filling, wet the sides of the pastry with water and pressfirmly but gently along the sides to seal it.
6. Preheat oven to 270C then lower it to 240-250C when the pastry goes in.
7. Bake until golden brown. (15 minutes i think)

That's it... simple, fast and easy!!! Very filling too.....

Bygones be bygones?

I know a few of my friends still remained in contact with their exs even though it ended in sour ways. As for myself, all of them ended sourly, so there is no point that I remain in contact with them.

Interesting enough, 2 of my exs decided to contact me, last month, after they themselves were the first to shut off from my world.
Should I be mature (enough) to go back being good friends with them?? I don't think so.
I can be mature enough to just say Hi and Bye. As for telling them about my "happening" life = FAT CHANCE.

This did not only happen to me. Pigeon's ex also decided to talk to him last month. What is with September? a reconcile month? Has some astrologist told them that this is the month for bygones to be bygones? sheesh....

Me wonder wonder; The answer is NO. Once an ex = always a stranger.

What about you??

To judge or not to judge

Who are we to say that this person deserve to die? deserve to get what or how she was treated? and who are we to say that that person deserve to win awards? deserve all the attention?

I'm currently in a angry phase of mind; not towards life, not towards work or my relationship. I am feeling angry for someone else (IR). IR was and still is mistreated by a two-faced baboon. I do think that the baboon deserve to fail her current degree. She doesn't do anything, whines about everything; when corrections were made in her work, she whines and asked why should she correct them and yet still ignores them, hands them straight up, then complains that you didn't tell her that she needs to correct them. This baboon has the nerve to hand up her empty thesis and ask what she should be writing for the results and discussion section. She is freaking lucky that I am not the one in charge of guiding her, I would slam the thesis back into her face "YOUare the one who did the experiments, YOUshould know the results, now YOU write about that!" . Her presentation was not even done by herself.

Why after such a loooong time I have my nerve snapped? I already had my share of confrontation with her and she is smartly avoiding another one. I have my big fat tail hanging out for her to step onso another war can break out, yet somehow she still manage to avoid it. BUT the tail of IR is like thread thin, she still manages to find and step on it. There is a limit of how much I can take in seeing baboons like her takes advantages of peacemakers. That is why I snapped!! 2 more months to go, I WILL "TAHAN"/"YAN"/ BEAR WITH HER!!!

ooo and before I forget, this baboon wants to take up Phd and be a lecturer. This situation is freaking kidding me!!

Birthday dinner

For my birthday, Pigeon and I, Ethan & Will as well, went for dinner up the hills. Dressed up for the night...

Venue: Windy Point
Food: Not suggested
Atmosphere: Fantastic

I wanted to compare the quality of the food menu of Windy Point (this restaurant) and The Grange (the restaurant I went for my 1st year anniversary with Pigeon), therefore I ordered a similar full course menu, where the food and accompanied wine were served. The Grange had 10 course meal, but Windy point had only 7 course; of course there was a huge difference in price as well. Although I do not suggest anyone to go there for meals; the food is not that good, but the scenery was very beautiful!! So I'll just browse through the food "quickly".
The side bread is highly recommended!! It's nice and warm, fresh from the oven (plus one). A plus point for this restaurant.

Let the meals begin!!

Start off, we have "Demitasse of Lobster Bisque + 2006 Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills" followed by "Confit Atlantic Salmon with horseradish potato cake and tobeko cream + 2006 Nepenthe Pinot Gris, Adelaide Hills".

These 2 dishes tasted good... very strong, thick lobster soup (Plus one) and fresh cook salmon tasted good as well.

Next comes "Seared Yellowfin Tuna, sashimi grade with potato and Parsley cake, capers, Roma tomatoes, chives and Kalamata olives + 2006 Cape Mentelle Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Margaret River" and "Chicken and Gorgonzola Dumpling served in a duck and ginger broth + 2006 Kooyong Massale Pinot Noir, Mornington Peninsula"

The tuna was nice and fresh (tasted fresher ones). The next dish was not recommended at all. the soup is damn salty... I considered myself to eat food which are high in salt, but this dish had exceeded my salt tolerant level (minus one)

A small sorbet to wash off the salt.. Mandarin orange flavour (Yummy!! plus one)

Mains: "Blackmore Wagyu Scotch Fillet Steak, marble score 7 with puff pastry Wagyu pie, asparagus spears and Bordelaise jus + 2005 Mitolo The Jester Shiraz, McLaren Vale" and "Roquefort Papillon & Woodside Goats Curd, house made Lavosh, petite herbs, muscatels and poached ruby quince +2006 d'Arenberg Noble Riesling, McLaren Vale"

Another salty dish, aka the pie (big minus one). The steak was nice but not fantastic (no points given). Th cheese and quince was quite a nice blend (plus one).

Dessert : Rasberry Clafoutis with black berry caramel + 2006 Two Hands Brilliant Disguise Moscato, Barossa Valley

Finally a wine I recognise. It's a really nice white sweet wine. The sort of rasberry cake was nice but not fantastic too

My 2nd birthday cake bought by Ethan, from Cocolat! The cake freaking rich!! By the end of the dinner, I could only eat a little bit. The cake was finally finished after 10 days.hehe

The beautiful view of Adelaide city from the restaurant!!

I wasn't around when the brides threw the bouquet. There goes 2 chances, which didn't occur to me. So for you all out there who kept asking me when I'm getting marry; answer is not this year or next year.

Birthday Surprise...

Thank you Thank you to all my friends who organised my surprise midnight "party"...
I was in bed, sleeping off my throat and fever, but was dragged out of bed, by pigeon, about 11:15pm and headed to BuddhaBar (kareoke/club/pub).

At 12am of 15th September 2007, my cake arrived! The cake was very nice; rich but not heavy. Why is that?! cus it was a chocolate mousse cake.

Huggies to all of you !!! Thank you very much!

What can a sick person like me do in a kareoke room? sink in the couch and dozing off... What are the rest doing?? screaming their lungs out... Can you see the veins popping out of his neck?? =P hehehe

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Congratulations to Jessica and Randy!!!!!

This is one of my bestie in Adelaide who recently "got married". Her actual wedding is in November in Indonesia, but I went for her pre- wedding dinner in Adelaide.

Let me introduce you all to the happy bride, Jessica.... They exchanged their vows in front of a small group of family and friends.

Pre-Wedding Dinner in Hilton.

What do you think of the decorations?? Quite nice right!!... I didn't buy the decorations, but I helped out in the decorating itself.

Of course every wedding dinner there is food.... here are the food pictures!!

For Entree; we have Morton bay bug risotto, roast pumpkin, lime butter.

For mains we have sirloin steak, basil "bubble and squeak" potato (basically means potato and sweet corn), charon sauce. For those who can't eat beef due to religion; they have lamb. I don't have the description for the lamb dish =P

Picture with the bride and groom; Jessica and Randy

* Note to self; no matter what is the situation next time, do not slouch when taking photo. I look so big size!!

I was sick; down with sore throat and fever that night; therefore couldn't stay long for the dinner, had to miss dessert.. =(... sigh, the dessert should be good!!
For dessert; they served chocolate souffle cake, cointreau strawberry, double cream and tea or coffee.
