Birthday Presents!!!

It's about time I upload all the presents I've got for my birthday!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!!!! (I know some are still coming, slowly making their way through the mail.....)

Let me start from the earliest present that I've received for my special day:

1) 4th August 2006. My 1st present is from my best friend since high school, and I had to go all the way to Perth to collect it:

Beauty Image: an interesting present and experience.....
hahaha it shall remain as hush as possible =) but it sure is an unforgettable present!!!
Arigato JH san.....

2) 14th September 2006

I couldn't get a decent photo of the perfume alone.....
okie, the perfume was my second present by ZY and DL.
It's by Nina Ricci, shaped like an apple, with a tingle of fruit berry scent.

3) 15th September 2006
hhhmmm, kind of a give away picture from the top; BUT it's the one worth mentioning twice!!! It's a present from my dear pigeon! muakz muakz!! Does it need any description?? I guess it needs a good intro; a sparkling necklace accompanied with a set of dangling earrings from Swarovski.

4) 16th September 2006

A nice summer bag from C and J. Earthy colours that goes well with summer clothes...=)

5) 23rd September 2006
Another bag (I requested for this present; a bag that can fit alot of things without looking too bulky). So TADA!!! present from my best friends in Adelaide... JN and YH....

6) Just last week I got a photo frame from P and J. I didn't manage to take the photo, but if your around my place, you'll be sure to see it sitting either in my room or in the living room..... =)

Yes Me Want More Presents!!! So keep sending them here, even if there is no reason to...

&^$#^@#$So what went wrong???

This has been a frustrated week (well 2 weeks).... There aren't much new news from my world as my job already takes up 8 hours a day. So what is there left to do? eat and zzz.

Okie, 2 weeks have passed and I can't even finish 1 experiment.... it's so frustrating!!!! I used to be able to finish 80 samples of wheats a day and now I can't even finish 13 in 2 weeks. Sigh!!! I have no idea what went wrong with the experiments, the chemical I've used were made fresh, so there was no contamination or oxidation of the chemicals used. Things that possible can go wrong: wrong concentration/pH of DMAB, MBTH, NaAc buffer, Hb and LA mix. (this sounds like gibberish... but that's what I'm working with)...

it's back to work again in 15 minutes time... wanna bang the wall.. and throw hissy fits....

Growl!!!!!

1st day of work!

Just another note to myself! I am back in Uni and back to work again!...=) So far, work is a breeze...... nothing interesting has happening yet! =)

Birthday Dinner!!! Part 1

Date: 15 September 2006, Friday
Time: 7:30pm - 10:30 pm
Venue: Shiki Restaurant 四季, Hyatt Hotel

There were 2 different dinner sets of Teppanyaki ordered; Irodori and Mai.
Let's start with the Appetiser(s)

"Set Irodori on the left" "Set Mai on the right"

Marinated Atlantic Salmon SA Prawns and Scallops Japanses Seaweed Salad
(What marination?? with lemon I guess, basic sashimi... hahaha.... the prawns and scallops are fresh with a nice layer of mayo.... )

Kakiage-Prawn & Vege Deep Fried Chicken
(hmmm..... prawn & vege taste like normal tempura.... on the other hand, the deep fried chicken is very tasty, taste like 盐酥鸡... yum!!!)

Dobin Mushi - Woah!!! Fantastic soup!!!!!There are of course 2 of them, but 1 picture is needed only.....
Sensory tasting: the soup has is a Bonito based soup, with prawns, tofu, 白果, chicken pieces and some greens.......

(Don't mind the blurry picture, I have shaky hands... hahaha)

This is not included in the dinner set BUT I love to eat it, that's why it's on my menu(cawamushi..... steam egg)

haha There is something in that egg that's different from other steam eggs I had.... can't put my finger on it....
Sensory tasting: prawns, fish, mushroom, chicken and 白果.. of course the obvious eggs... hahaha)

Main course!!
Then the chef allowed us to share the main course dishes..
Moreton Bay Bugs on the left and SA Oysters.... very fresh as well, and tasty (Wei, yes I don't think I'm cut out to be a food critic!!!hahaha no words to express the food in details)

Herb steak on the left and green peppercorn steak on the right
The herb steak is mushrooms wrapped in thin sliced beef...
The green peppercorn steak was cooked medium rare!!! very juicy!!!

Nah, I didn't take any pictures of the seasonal vegetables, fried rice and fried noodles, miso soup and pickles.... those are quite quite common......... =)

Birthday Dinner!!! Part 2

Dessert!!!!
My Birthday Cake with no candles... no wishes for me.... hahaha it's a complimentary cake from Shiki. It actually taste pretty good!! double layer of mousse and a hard biscuit as base.. with a top layer of strawberry "jam" =P yum!

Upclose picture of my cake!!Strawberrys and cream...... (If it's tiramisu, it'd be better... hahaha but it still yummy!)

Dessert 1: Seasonal Sorbet
Strawberry sorbet and coconut sorbet
The strawberry sorbet taste like sorbet made from strawberry jam and not from fresh strawberries.... sigh...
The coconut sorbet is very coconutish!!

Dessert 2: Honey ice-cream
refresh creamy honeyish taste... quite nice quite nice.. but it doesn't beat the green tea creme brulee I had in Perth... sigh...

Happy Birthday to me!!!!

Just a quick short note to my blog..... 15th September!!!! My birthday..... details shall be uploaded in the next couple of days...... big muakz and hugz to myself! as I'm quarter of a century old!!!

Cheer up!!

All this talk about $$$ just gets me down...=(.... so I've decided to chance topic and keep it cheery!!

I've decided to sent an aim for my next big holiday trip! Off to Bora-bora I go!!!

Where do I stay??
Le Meridien Bora Bora (At the Overwater Bungalow)
How long do I stay??
At least 4 days
When do I go??
By the end of 2008 (check out the off-peak price)

Look at the place!!! White sandy beach; crystal clear sea water. It looks too relaxing to be too true. Breathtaking mountain view; you could even feel the sea breeze gently blowing your hair and the warmth of the sun warming your face. Ahh the life!

Ain't it cool!.... sigh.....
Who to go with??
hahaha, who can afford to go with me? okie I guess I have to treat mummy dearest (She needs a looooong nice holiday "Another hole in my pocket")

Breakfast with the fishes .... hmmm I wonder if your allowed to feed them?? =P Will the waiter come over and stop you from throwing buffet breakfast food down to the sea?

Dinner would be so romantic! sigh...

This could be me!! Just give me a year or two to save up $$$.

Did this helping me cheer up?? I guess it did. It's my target! my motivation to work harder and earn $$$...

加油! 加油!

$$$$$ Part 2

A short update on myself:
I am still waiting for my working visa to be approved and I'm currently holding a bridging visa. So does that allow me to work??? Actually, I don't know; gonna find that out tomorrow!

So what is this sudden talk of $$$?? Well, since I'm not working, it's so clear to see the $$$ in my account dropping at a constant speed. sigh... :( Feels like I'm going broke by the minute!
As for the lyrics which I've posted earlier... well, I havn't got the need to go to that extreme to get any.... It's just depressing to look at the decrease.... It was nice looking at it shooting up when I got my tax return....

A few of my frens are facing money problems; juggling with $$$ is such a pain in the butt. hahaha one of them (W) is looking for a Sugarmama... well, the one sugarmama I can think of is the one who had her salary increased recently (J).... As for me, I'm living my life on a reasonable quota (I think) which hopefully enable me to survive to the end of September.....

What expenses I have and where did the rest of my $$$ go??? Starting from the most important one of course...
1. Food
2. Phonebill
3. Road tax
4. Application fees
5. Agent fees
6. The Adelaide Show (showbags, games and food)
7. Birthday presentS (why are there suddenly so many frens' birthday in August,September and October????!!!!)
8. Petrol
9. Carpark fees
10. Bubbletea (yes I have to include this in the list; I'm a bubbletea addict)

I guess that's it so far, expenses soon to come:
1. House rental fees
2. Gas bills
3. Electricity bills
4. Housephone bills
5. Furnitures (Not sure yet, might be renting a furnish place:to buy or not to buy)

Sigh.... deep sigh.... deepest sigh.......
That's it!!!!!! I need my working visa NOW!!!!!!.... @$%#$^#$ what is taking so long??!!

$$$$$ Part 1

Recently, hmmm yes recently..... There are many mentions about $$$. That's when this song pops into mind!!

For the love of money by The O-Jays

Money money money money, money (5x)

Some people got to have it
Some people really need it
Listen to me y'all, do things, do things, do bad things with it
You wanna do things, do things, do things, good things with it

Talk about cash money, money
Talk about cash money- dollar bills, y'all
For the love of money
People will steal from their mother
For the love of money
People will rob their own brother
For the love of money
People can't even walk the street
Because they never know who in the world they're gonna beat
For that lean, mean, mean green
Almighty dollar, money

For the love of money
People will lie, Lord, they will cheat
For the love of money
People don't care who they hurt or beat
For the love of money
A woman will sell her precious body
For a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight
Call it lean, mean, mean green

Almighty dollar
I know money is the root of all evil
Do funny things to some people
Give me a nickel, brother can you spare a dime
Money can drive some people out of their minds
Got to have it, I really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Some people really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Got to have it, I really need it
How many things have I heard you say
Lay down, lay down, a woman will lay down
For the love of money
All for the love of money
Don't let, don't let, don't let money rule you
For the love of money
Money can change people sometimes
Don't let, don't let, don't let money fool you
Money can fool people sometimes
People! Don't let money, don't let money change you,it will keep on changing, changing up your mind

Port Adelaide

Day: Sunday
Date: 3rd September 2006
Time: 0600
Venue: Port Adelaide

I could be considered as an early riser (according to my sisters and some of my frens), more over I'm born in the year of the rooster (now you can guess my age...); But at this hour is just RIDICULOUS. I had to wake up at 4:30am just to leave at 5am to reach Port Adelaide at 6am, just to buy fresh fresh seafood just out from the sea (talk about "kiasu"). Next time I'll reach there at 7 or 8 am, as the fishermen only starts setting up their catch of the day at 6am is itself.

Check out the fresh fish!!!! On of the fish on the left cost only $4 (my dinner... muahaha).

Fishermen buzy at work; setting up fish, cutting fillets, pickling calamaries and prawns, opening oysters......etc
Seafood can't get any fresher than this!!

Before I forget, the price for these seafood are a whole lot cheaper than buying them at the market itself!!! Pick a guess of the oysters price for a dozen; open and unopen.

So have you guessed the price yet??? It's $6.50 for unopened and $7.50 for opened ones (a dozen).... CHEAP!!!!! LE LONG LE LONG!!!!

Oooo I've got the opened oysters picture, but can't get it off from James camera. They are fat and juicy.... real round tummy!!

Of course if there's oysters, you can't leave out mussels!!!

I forgot to take pictures of calamaries, prawns and blue crabs (but then again, it's not like you've never seen seafood in your life)

Right, after some seafood shopping, it's vegetables and fruits shopping... cheap and fresh as well!!! In conclusion; the trip was worth it base on price and freshness..... but not to the extend of time and the degrees I had to go thru (about 5C, i think, feels that way)

Redang Island

My long overdue pictures of Redang Island....
Look at the beautiful sea and the snowy white sand....

But.... don't let this picture be the only judge of the whole of Redang Island. The sea ain't that clean at other parts of the island; corals have died.. etc I think I've mentioned it in the earlier post.

For some fun at the beach! Look a Mermaid!!!! (Looks more like a tuna fish to me...sigh...)

Island hopping and snorkelling with my dear brother and second sister!

hahaha I'm just too lazy to shrink all the pictures and post them up... these will just have to do in the rememberance on my trip to Redang! haha =)

Perth and clubbing scene!

After the delicious dinner, we head down to some clubs! Hmm clubbing scene in Perth is still different from KL, not as hip and happening. I still manage to enjoy myself in the clubs (even after I fell and landed on my butt, twisted my ankle).... here are some pics that we moved with the groove and shake what our mama gave us! Of course all this partying; alcohol is always involved!! some Smirnoff... and some teqilla shots.... then it's groove around....hhmm There's was smoking session here and there, no pics, no evidence! muahaha......Hey I only had 1!!....

Perth Food part 2

K's Restaurant; Fine dining and Fusion cuisine:
Lets' begin with the interesting menu- I took the Deluxe Course Menu:
1st stop we always start with Soup of the Day, which is a cauliflower and something green soup (I can't remember, maybe it was spinach) hmm.....Then we have the Pan-fried chicken with saffron risotto sauce tomato

Fresh squid deep fried with curry sauce

Angel prawn (NZ) tartar wrapped in thin sliced tuna with YUZU dressing

Rack of Lamb served with balsamic sauce

Dessert!!! Green tea creme brulee

Yum!!! What else can I say about this interesting dinner courtesy of Wei.... hehhe Thank you Wei!! for this delicious time consuming dinner. It was really really scumptious, BUT the portion is small and it took like 3 hours to eat I think..... haha but all are forgotten when the dessert arrived..... mouth watering soft texture that just melts in your mouth!!! I'll be happy just eating bucket loads of this just for lunch or dinner!!

Comments on the pictures: I just realised that I kinda looked like one of those wax people display in the wax museum! Why is my head, my smile even the hair seems to be the same in every photo??!! hahha oh well, maybe I should have taken a closer view on the food and less me; but that's Me enjoying my dinner so there!

My trip to Perth.....

Finally something to read about (I guess that's what Wei would say)....
Perth Perth Perth! It was definately enjoyable holiday for me! It's bigger than Adelaide, probably abit more happening than Adelaide as well, but hey I'm not complaining about Adelaide. I've lived here for over 4 years, it's very relaxing , hang loose place!.....

Let me begin with some food pictures!!! (I can hear Wei sniggering; apparently the amount of pics I took in Perth in 1 week are more than the total pics she took since living in Perth)...hmmm All this comment on Wei; I'll start with Jane and Wei... Jane is my best fren since high school, SMSKL. and Wei is her best fren in Perth.....

(Left->right: Wei , Me, Jane)... This is the only picture I have of 3 of us togather... quite sad, should have taken more!!!! No worries, there's always next time.... so Wei, prepare for some more picture taking and SMILE!!

Okie back to my food pictures

1st stop: Malaysian food: Hokkien noodles on the top, Hainan chicken rice, then it is some fried chicken (can't remember) followed by Curry Laksa. Don't mind the pic; kinda senggek and half eaten... too hungry for words...but sure is YUM!!! That's my 1st dinner in Perth at Hawker Cuisine ( 大排挡). Taste wise; not bad, but they can never beat the taste from back home... sigh

2nd stop: Jacaranda Cafe.

We had lunch at a beautiful wineyard, Houghton. The way to enjoy life is sitting around with friends with a good bottle of wine and good food of course!!

Well, I'm very bad with people's name; so I've attached the group photo and all of them are known as friends from Perth! muahaha...

That's the Land and Sea Food Platter, Jane and I ordered. Scrumptious!! Of course last but not least the dessert!! Crepes!!! Now how do you actually pronounce this dessert?? (Crap pays?? or Creeps?? or there are other pronounciation; cus it's already different in WA vs SA)

hmm, I'll stop here for now! More post on Food soon in Perth!!! Stay Tune!!!

2nd stop! Redang Island!

It's been a longtime since i went back to Redang Island. The last time I went there was in 2001; 5 years later things sure have changed alot. The beautiful, striking colour corals that I once saw, had turned dull and grey. Commerciallization has caused the corals to die and the sea polluted.... even the Marine Park is pathetic..... but i guess holiday is still a holiday.....

I'd say that it is still better than Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, Australia. 5 x better.... Trust me!

There is a "cool" and unforgettable moment in this trip for me!... I manage to see to love-turtles swimming side by side in the sea, and caught it on the underwater camera. The sad part of it, was that the sea was polluted, so the turtles photo was kinda misty and blurry... sigh....

(Just a note to myself; remember to upload the photos. the service for uploading on this webpage is buzy, and I have to try uploading them again in a few minutes time)

Singapore!

I've been back to good old Malaysia for awhile now and I've made my 1st holiday trip to Singapore! Who did I see? meet up? (top: Cindy Wang, my senior of the same Uni degee; bottom: Sin Yi, my ex-housemate that I've lived with for 2 years)

Both of them are buzy with work... sigh the working industry. They tend to stress you out and suck your energy dry! Well, All The Best In Your Job Gals! Gambate!!!!!

Interesting News

Right, this piece of news has been kept from all of you for quite some time. hahaha.... I can stop laughing everytime I thought about it. I went for a movie audition in December 2005. okie let me start from the begining.

This "job" was found in AUU emploment database (from Adelaide Uni website). The Angela Heesom Casting C/-SA Film Corporation was looking for some movie casts. The cast that I fit into was "Young Sue- 19-27 years old Chinese woman. Must speak Mandarin. No previous acting experience required." I emailed them that I was interested in the role. They sent back an email asking for my self photograph. The a week later, they asked me to go in for camera shoot. It was funny and shocking at that time. But truth to be told, it wasn't as "glamarous" as i thought it would be. I went and had a mug shot; yup the type of picture taken by policeman. Literally a front view and a side view shot and at the bottom, a piece of paper with my name on it. they asked acouple of questions like my age, language that I spoke.. etc.. hahaha and it all finished in 5 minutes. It Christmas now, and I havn't heard from them for quite some time. So I'm not even sure if I got the part. sigh... It was fun while it lasted though......

A bit about the movie: The film title is The Home Song Stories.
It starring Joan Chen. The story is about Sue, a glamorous Shanghai nightclub singer, and her struggle to survive in Australai with her two young children. Based on a true story, this is an epic tale of mothers and sons, mothers and daughters, unrequited love and hidden secrets that span continents and decades. The film is written and directed by Chinese Auastralain director, Tony Ayres.

hahah So if you see this movie next time, and you see that I'm not acting in it. It means I didn't made the part (deep sigh... hahaha so close to becoming a big movie star) (*Feels like Joey from friends.....*)

Seriously, deep down inside, I know I won't be choosen cus I don't look like Joan Chen at all. How am I suppose to act as the younger version of her??? hmmmm....but it's the fun of the process that makes life memorable....... winks~*

Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire

Okie I have to admit that i'm so lacking behind the history of my life. So before interesting news that I'm about to tell, a brief update on myself.

Yes I've graduated on the 22 December 2005, Thursday. I'm officially a Food Technologist, who is also a Quality Manager. I am considered a jobless person, as I've yet to look for a food company to work in; but mind you I'm currently working in Uni Lab, doing experiments.
(Pictures of the graduation will be uploaded soon. As soon as I resize and scan some of them.

Blogging (Green with envy?)

(Names of friends, M, N, O, P.....)
A recent "discussion" with my friends on blogs. M says that it's a place for bragging; N says that it's a place to update and share with friends; O says that it's a place to complain.... What do you think?

I agree with all bits and pieces. Currently, I've a friend,S, who is going to marry soon. Her blog consist of her knowledge on rings, wedding gown, flowers etc.... She tells people about the $$ she spend etc... Well, true she's telling the whole world that she spend alot of money, but then, if you're a close friend, she would have told you or you would have asked her about it... I guess there is a fine line between sharing and bragging. A note to the readers *If you don't like what you read, then close the window and don't read*... no point of you reading people's blog and complain that that person is bragging about her life... Good for you *S*, Congratulations and have a memorable wedding!

There is another blog that i came across; people complementing and complaining about their relationship. yes it's true, relationship can be sweet as can be, sour with slight bitter after taste... it's understandable... I would say, sometimes telling another about your heartache, relieves you emotionally. I would agree on the part where you tell your friends about your problem. But if you have a blog that connects you to everyone (friends and strangers; eg. Friendster blog)... hmmm it makes you wonder.....

there are a couple of blogs which are really really funny, i accidentally came a cross a blog (I have no idea who it was)... it consist of self tests.. hahaha, it's those where you answer a series of questions and they'll tell you your personality.. etc... the fella keeps his blog updated with these self tests that he come across... hahah very very funny.... (if i can remember the blog, i'll post it up for you to have a read!)

Well a pre-warning to you readers... next month I'll be bragging and sharing about my graduation day! you'll just have to put up with it!! muahaha

WOoHOo

Exam has finished, Thesis has already been handed up for marking. Now have a 2 weeks break before a major presentation. Time to do some shopping, catch up with friends, which I have deserted for a month. Try to sort out my ex-textbooks!....
What a joy it is!! =)
